The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a popular and adventurous trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is considered one of the most beautiful and diverse treks in the world, as it passes through lush green forests, rice paddies, terraced fields, and traditional villages, and offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range.

The trek starts from Pokhara and takes you to the Annapurna Sanctuary, which is located at an altitude of 4,130 meters above sea level. The trek usually takes around 10-12 days, depending on your itinerary and pace.

The trek starts from Nayapul and passes through various villages like Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chhomrong, Dovan, Deurali, and finally reaches the Annapurna Base Camp. Along the way, you will witness the beauty of the Annapurna mountain range, including the Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

The trail to the Annapurna Base Camp is well marked and well-maintained. The trek is suitable for people of all ages, but it does require a certain level of fitness and stamina. The best time to go for the trek is from September to November and from March to May, as the weather is clear and the views are stunning.

During the trek, you will stay in teahouses or lodges, which offer basic accommodation and meals. You will get to taste traditional Nepali food like dal bhat (rice and lentil soup), momo (dumplings), and other local dishes.

Note for Trekkers: – if the trip is cancelled before the time span because of any Disasters like earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, floods etc. or Due to the reason of our guide and porter, the remaining cash will be refunded to you. But, if the trip is cancelled from your own side before the time span, the remaining cash will not be refunded back to you.

Note:-  During your trek, sometimes we have to stop in teahouses for a small break, which is not so much facilitated. They have shared washing rooms and toilet. Similarly, it is easier to get the single room at Kathmandu and lower elevation places. However, in high altitude accommodations are on twin Sharing basis. However, Jatra Travels will arrange a single room along with attached bathroom as much as possible.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01:- Arrival at Kathmandu | 1,350m. Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1300 meters). Guests are received by our airport representative and escorted to the hotel. Take your time to refresh yourself and your day is free so you can walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square or explore the Thamel. Your first overnight at your hotel in the valley of the god.

 Day 02:- Trek preparation and sightseeing at Kathmandu | 1350m. We will start our day visiting Swayambhunath in the early morning locate din northwest Kathmandu. The monastery offers a brilliant depiction of Buddhist influence in Kathmandu. After that we will visit Pashupatinath Temple which is the pilgrim of Hindu. And finally, we will end with a tour to Boudnanth Stupa. All of these sites are UNESCO heritage Site which cover the heart of the Valley. We tour these destinations with our private car. If needed we can do shopping for necessary equipment for the trek in the evening.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara by deluxe Tourist bus with AC and Wi-Fi. The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes around 6-7 hours and covers a distance of approximately 200 kilometers. The tourist buses usually depart early in the morning and arrive in Pokhara in the afternoon. The buses are comfortable and spacious with air conditioning, comfortable seats, and large windows to enjoy the view. The bus route takes you through winding roads that pass through beautiful hills, small towns, and terraced farms. You will also cross several rivers and waterfalls, which add to the scenic beauty of the journey. During the drive, there are several rest stops where you can stretch your legs, use the restroom, and grab a quick snack or drink.

The tourist buses usually depart from the bus station in Kathmandu, which is located near the Thamel neighborhood. You can book your bus ticket in advance from travel agencies, hotels, or online booking websites. It is recommended to book your tickets in advance, especially during peak season, to avoid any last-minute hassle.

Day 04: Drive Pokhara/Nayapool trek to Ghandruk (1940m/5Hrs Walk). The drive from Pokhara to Nayapool takes around 1-2 hours, depending on the traffic and road conditions. From Nayapool, the trek to Ghandruk is approximately 5 hours and covers a distance of about 10 kilometers. The trek starts from Nayapool and follows the Modi Khola river upstream. The trail passes through several small villages, terraced farms, and lush forests of oak and rhododendron trees. You will cross several suspension bridges over the river and ascend steep stone steps as you make your way towards Ghandruk.

Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung village located at an altitude of 1940 meters. The village offers a stunning view of the Annapurna mountain range, including Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli. It is a popular overnight stop for trekkers who are on their way to Annapurna Base Camp. Along the way, you will encounter local people who are friendly and hospitable. You can interact with them and learn about their culture and way of life. The trek to Ghandruk is considered moderate in difficulty, and it is suitable for most people who have a reasonable level of fitness.

Day 05: Trek to Chhomrong (2170m/5 Hours Walk). On Day 5 of the trek, you will start your journey towards Chhomrong from Ghandruk, which is located at an altitude of 1940 meters. The trek to Chhomrong is approximately 5 hours long and covers a distance of around 10 kilometers. The trail from Ghandruk to Chhomrong starts with a descent towards the Kimrong Khola river. You will cross a suspension bridge over the river and start ascending towards Chhomrong. The trail passes through beautiful rhododendron forests and small villages, offering stunning views of the Annapurna mountain range. Chhomrong is a beautiful Gurung village located at an altitude of 2170 meters. It is the last permanent settlement before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. The village is situated on a hilltop, and it offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Chhomrong is a popular overnight stop for trekkers who are on their way to Annapurna Base Camp. The village has several tea houses and lodges where you can stay overnight and enjoy local food and hospitality.

The trek to Chhomrong is considered moderate in difficulty, and it is suitable for most people who have a reasonable level of fitness. However, the trail involves some steep ascents and descents, so it is essential to take proper precautions and rest whenever necessary.

Day 06:  Trek to Doban (2425m/5 Hours Walk). On Day 6 of the trek, you will continue your journey towards Doban from Chhomrong, which is located at an altitude of 2170 meters. The trek to Doban is approximately 5 hours long and covers a distance of around 9 kilometers. The trail from Chhomrong to Doban follows the Modi Khola river upstream. You will pass through several small villages, terraced farms, and lush forests of bamboo and rhododendron trees. You will cross several suspension bridges over the river and ascend and descend steep stone steps as you make your way towards Doban.

Doban is a small village located at an altitude of 2425 meters. It is situated on the banks of the Modi Khola river and is surrounded by beautiful forests and waterfalls. The village has a few tea houses and lodges where you can stay overnight and enjoy local food and hospitality. The trek to Doban is considered moderate in difficulty, and it is suitable for most people who have a reasonable level of fitness. However, the trail involves some steep ascents and descents, so it is essential to take proper precautions and rest whenever necessary.

Along the way, you will encounter local people who are friendly and hospitable. You can interact with them and learn about their culture and way of life. You will also get to see a variety of flora and fauna, including several species of birds and animals.

Day 07:  Trek to Deurali (3230m/4 Hours Walk). On Day 7 of the trek, you will continue your journey towards Deurali from Doban, which is located at an altitude of 2425 meters. The trek to Deurali is approximately 4 hours long and covers a distance of around 6 kilometers. The trail from Doban to Deurali continues along the Modi Khola river, with steep ascents and descents along the way. You will pass through dense forests of bamboo, rhododendron, and oak trees, and the trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Deurali is a small village located at an altitude of 3230 meters. It is situated in a beautiful valley surrounded by high cliffs and waterfalls. The village has a few tea houses and lodges where you can stay overnight and enjoy local food and hospitality. The trek to Deurali is considered moderate in difficulty, but it involves some steep climbs, and the altitude gain can make it challenging for some people. It is essential to take proper precautions and rest whenever necessary to avoid altitude sickness.

Day 08: Trek Deurali to Machhapuchre Base Camp) 3900m/3Hrs Walk. On Day 8 of the trek, you will continue your journey towards Machhapuchre Base Camp (MBC) from Deurali, which is located at an altitude of 3230 meters. The trek to MBC is approximately 3 hours long and covers a distance of around 4 kilometers. The trail from Deurali to MBC is a steep climb through a rugged landscape. You will pass through the Hinku Cave and cross several bridges over the Modi Khola river. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the majestic Machhapuchre (Fishtail) peak. Machhapuchre Base Camp is located at an altitude of 3900 meters, and it is the last stop before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. The base camp offers a spectacular view of the Annapurna mountain range and the glacier-fed Modi Khola river. At MBC, you will find several tea houses and lodges where you can stay overnight and enjoy local food and hospitality. It is essential to take proper precautions and rest whenever necessary to avoid altitude sickness, as the altitude gain from Deurali to MBC is significant.

The trek to Machhapuchre Base Camp is considered strenuous, and it requires a good level of fitness and trekking experience. It is also essential to have proper gear and clothing to cope with the high altitude and changing weather conditions.

Day 09:  Trek MBC to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/6 Hours Walk).  On day 9 of your trek, you will be hiking from Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). The trek will take about 6 hours. The trail from MBC to ABC is relatively easy, with a gradual ascent towards the base camp. You will be walking through a beautiful valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you will pass through several small villages and settlements where you can stop for a rest or a cup of tea. As you continue on the trail, you will come across a series of switchbacks that lead up to the entrance of the Annapurna Sanctuary. The scenery here is simply breathtaking, with towering peaks rising up all around you.

After a short walk from the entrance, you will reach the Annapurna Base Camp. At an elevation of 4,130 meters, ABC is a high-altitude destination that offers stunning views of the Annapurna massif. The base camp itself is a small collection of lodges and teahouses where you can rest and acclimatize before continuing on your trek.

Once you arrive at ABC, take some time to enjoy the magnificent views and soak in the beauty of the Himalayas. You can also explore the base camp area and hike to some of the nearby viewpoints for even more stunning vistas. Overall, the trek from MBC to ABC is a relatively easy but incredibly scenic walk that offers some of the best views of the Annapurna mountain range.

Day 10:  Trek to Bamboo (2310m/6 Hours Walk). On day 10 of your trek, you will be leaving Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) and heading towards Bamboo. The trek will take about 6 hours. The trail from ABC to Bamboo descends steeply through the dense forest and passes through several small settlements and tea houses along the way. You will also cross the Modi Khola river several times as you make your way down.

Day 11:  Trek to Jhinu Danda (1760m/6 Hours Walk). On day 11 of your trek, you will be trekking from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda. The trek will take approximately 6 hours. The trail from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda is mostly downhill, with a few uphill sections as well. You will pass through several small villages and settlements along the way. The trek begins with a gentle descent from Bamboo to Sinuwa, a small village that is located on a ridge. From there, the trail continues downhill to the Chomrong Khola river, which you will cross over a suspension bridge. After crossing the river, the trail climbs uphill to the village of Chomrong, which is the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. Chomrong is a popular stop for trekkers and has several lodges and tea houses where you can take a break.

From Chomrong, the trail descends steeply down to Jhinu Danda, a small village located on the banks of the Modi Khola river. Jhinu Danda is famous for its natural hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties. You can take a dip in the hot springs and relax your tired muscles after the long trek.

Day 12: Trek to Nayapol – 7 Hours Walk & Drive to Pokhara. On day 12 of your trek, you will be trekking from Jhinu Danda to Nayapol and then taking a drive to Pokhara. The trek will take about 7 hours, and the drive to Pokhara will take approximately 1.5 hours.

Day 13: Pokhara to Kathmandu and stay at Hotel. On day 13 of your trek, you will be leaving Pokhara and returning to Kathmandu. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel where you can rest and relax after your trek. You may also want to explore some of the cultural and historical sites of Kathmandu, such as the Swayambhunath Stupa, Durbar Square, or Pashupatinath Temple.

Day 14: Rest and Shopping Day in Kathmandu. On day 14 of your trip, you will have a rest day in Kathmandu. This is an opportunity for you to relax and recover after your trek and to explore the city. Kathmandu is known for its vibrant culture, rich history, and unique architecture. There are many things to see and do in Kathmandu, including shopping for souvenirs, visiting temples and historical sites, and trying out local cuisine.

One of the best places to go shopping in Kathmandu is Thamel, which is a popular tourist district known for its colorful shops and street vendors. Here, you can find a variety of items such as handicrafts, textiles, jewelry, and other souvenirs to take back home.

Day 15: Back to home. On day 15 of your trip, you will be flying back home from Kathmandu. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to explore the city or do some last-minute shopping before you depart.

Make sure to check your flight details in advance and arrive at the airport with plenty of time to spare. The Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu can get busy, so it’s important to allow enough time for check-in and security procedures.
